Self-Assessment for Funding to Expand the Housing Supply

This self-assessment is designed to guide you through the initial eligibility criteria and help inform whether your project to expand the supply of social, affordable, or market housing may be eligible for funding through the following programs:

  • Proposal Development Funding
  • Provincial Capital Funding
  • The City of Brandon's Housing Incentive Program (Capital Funding)
  • Rental Housing Construction Incentive (in development-for information only)
  • Support Services Funding for New Supply
  • Operating Funding for New Supply

This list is expected to grow as Manitoba Housing expands its partnerships with other funders, including municipalities and Indigenous governments.

Your proposal may be eligible for one or more of these programs if it:

  • Expands the supply of social or affordable housing, led by a non-profit, co-operative, municipality, or Indigenous government/organization;
  • Expands the supply of market or affordable housing through new construction, additions, or conversion to residential (can be led by a for-profit organization); and
  • Plans to provide support services for tenants (if social housing is included).

The following components are not eligible for funding:

  • Acquisition of existing social or affordable housing units that are fully operational and currently providing adequate housing
  • Nursing homes, other long-term care facilities, crisis care facilities
  • Ownership housing of any kind
  • Emergency shelters that only offer congregate overnight shelter spaces.
  • Projects located on First Nations reserve land.

After answering the "yes" or "no" questions below, you will receive a code. Entering this code into the Universal Application Form will bring up the application questions for the programs you may be eligible for. Please note that the self-assessment form is not intended to make a final determination. After you submit your application form, it will be reviewed and assessed for eligibility based on the program's criteria. If additional information is required, you will be contacted to provide further details. You will be notified of the outcome once the evaluation process is complete.
