Employers, contractors, or mine owners must notify a mines inspector and the workplace safety committee in the following situations:
- Opening or Reopening: At least 14 days before beginning or restarting mine operations (exploration, development, or production).
- Resumption of Work: Before resuming any work after a suspension lasting more than 30 days.
- Quarries: Before opening or resuming work each year.
- Discontinuance or Suspension: At the time of, or prior to, suspending all mining, maintenance, or construction work for more than 30 days.
Note: Connecting mining equipment to an external power source is considered a form of opening or resumption.
