Manitoba Emergency Alerting Feedback

The Alert Ready System is a Federal/Provincial/Territorial initiative that provides emergency management organizations throughout Canada with a standard alerting capability to warn the public of imminent or unfolding hazards to life. The system is comprised of many partners, including the broadcast industry, wireless service providers and Pelmorex who collects and disseminates the emergency alerts.

Building a safe and reliable Emergency Alerting Program in Manitoba is a top priority for all levels of government and industry partners. Your feedback is important to us and will assist in improving the Manitoba Emergency Alerting Program.

Any personal information you provide through this Feedback Form is collected in compliance with The Freedom of Information and Protection of Privacy Act. Your personal information will not be used in any other way without your consent.

Use the form below to provide feedback after an alert (ex: AMBER alert, tornado warning) or after a test.

For Your Awareness:

You cannot opt out of receiving emergency alerts. The Canadian Radio-television and Telecommunications Commission (CRTC) has mandated that all compatible wireless devices receive all relevant alerts. There is no sign-up required. Emergency alerts will be automatically sent through broadcast channels, and to compatible wireless devices. Not all Canadians will receive emergency alerts on their wireless devices. In order for emergency alerts to be received on a wireless device, the device must be:

  • A LTE-device such as a smartphone (LTE is commonly referred to as “4G LTE”);
  • Have special software embedded in the device which allows for messages to be received; and
  • Connected to a LTE cellular network at the time the emergency alert is issued.

If a device does not meet all three conditions above, it will not be able to receive the alert. This may occur for a variety of reasons including device compatibility, connection to an LTE network, cell tower coverage and device software and settings.
